The first GearFM blog from the control center

Now a blog too? Yes, now a blog too! We want to take you with us on the exciting journey of GearFM. The small idea in my head has already taken on larger proportions than planned. We are currently working flat out on the launch and on our “corporate identity”, because we are plagued by the question of how to capture being a Gearhead in audio. The team came up with the idea that perhaps we could ask you, the community, for typical Gear sounds that you could send us. This quickly turned into an idea for an Instagram “Your turn” campaign, which we now want to further develop and pursue. So YOU can hear yourself on the radio – isn’t that cool? Work is also continuing diligently on the IT front. We currently have three servers running different services, but we want to combine them further. And we have already started a first test stream with music to test how strong a server needs to be to host something like this. Because just playing music is not enough: we want smooth transitions, matching jingles and a lot of sound processing so that every song and every jingle is equally loud.

We are also working on the most important thing in radio: the music. Which genres do we play at what time? Will the names of the programs stay the same, or will we change them again and leave the program schedule as it is, or will we optimize something else? These are all questions that are currently on our minds and that we have to answer before the launch.

Progress is also being made on the partnership side. We are already talking about concrete ideas and concepts with initial contacts to individual events that we want to cooperate with. But more on that after the launch.

Launch, launch… I’ve already used that word several times. Unfortunately, I can’t give you a specific date yet because there are still too many unanswered questions. But what I can assure you is that it will happen this quarter.
